Thanks to Che for adding his spin to Pynchon’s parabola, Bat Masterson for Christing us and returning equipment we’d intoxicatedly left behind, and all who attended our least populated and arguably least precise, but, also arguably, most fun show yet. Mil disculpas for the decibels though; earplugs will be provided gratis next time.
See yinz at the Waffle Shop.
BBT show tonight.
Posted on July 31, 2010Hearken to us and Bat Masterson tonight, if you’re into that kind of thing.

Gateway to the Demon World
Posted on July 20, 2010Binaural beats are lovely and all, but We are the Dead has yet to incorporate them into any recordings. It’s tempting now this tech’s the target of ignorant control-freakery, but what’s the point when yinz can just DIY with a soundtrack of your choosing? Via Charles Johnson,
Howlers show shortly.
James P. Hogan joins the band.
Posted on July 17, 2010Nothing made sense. If his appearance had been changed through some elaborate process—by whom? for what purpose?—why, apart from the oddities among his recollections that he was unable to explain, did he seem normal to himself? And it wasn’t simply a question of appearances. The woman in the hotel room in Atlanta, the drink, the guns in the briefcase—all pointed to his having been somehow transformed into literally a different person, physically and psychologically, for over half a year. And then somehow, since this morning, the mental part only of that person had apparently reverted to its former self. It sounded impossible, but what explanation was there?
Yet even that didn’t account for all of it. If he was transformed, who was dead?
The Multiplex Man
Contrarian scribbler James P. Hogan died of unknown causes on July 12, 2010. My favorite of his works is The Multiplex Man (1992), a twisty near-future tale of conspiracy, mind control and the quest for human freedom – but the Giants novels are pretty rad too. His latest book, Migration, dropped in May.
Welcome to the band, James.

We opened for Pepper Rabbit, who delivered a fantastic set. Candy Claws had a vehicular mishap and couldn’t make it, but to my knowledge are physically fine and continuing their tour.
Jeremiah was also unable to make it due to a kidney infection, but is by all accounts recovering speedily and intends to grace this coming Psychedelic Thursday at Howlers.
Thanks to Victor for accompanying us on tin whistle, to Pepper Rabbit for being such rad dudes and fine musicians, to the Brillobox for having us, and to all our victims on the night in question.
See yinz at Howlers.

On the night in question, We are the Dead was preceded by Local Highway, Oliver Southgate, Hotdog Forest and Dean Cercone and featured otherworldly electric guitar by Jeremiah and chthonic bass by Colin Baxter.
Julie was good enough to record this performance of “Patty Patty”.
Thanks to all who danced (especially Chris), attended and/or performed music, and to the folks at Club Envy for having us and treating us so nice.
See yinz at the Brillobox.
